TheMg/NeabundanceratiointhequietSunismeasuredinbothnetworkandsupergranulecellcentreregionsthroughEUVspectrafromtheCoronalDiagnosticSpectrometeronSOHO.Twentyfoursetsofdataovertheperiod1996Marchto1998June ( correspondingtosolarminimum ) arestudied.EmissionlinesofthesequencesNeIV–VIIandMgV–VIIIaresimultaneouslyanalysedbycomparingwiththeoreticalemissivitiesfromtheCHIANTIdatabasetoyieldtheMg/Neabundanceandemissionmeasureoverthetemperatureregion 5.0 \leq \log T \leq 6.1 .TheaverageenhancementsoverthephotosphericMg/Neabundancearefoundtobe 1.25 \pm 0.10 ( network ) and 1.66 \pm 0.23 ( cellcentres ) , significantlylowerthanthetypical4–5enhancementsfoundintheslowsolarwind.ThisresultimpliesthatonlyasmallfractionofthequietSunconnectsintothesolarwind.ThequietSunspectraarealsoutilisedtodeterminethecoronaldensityandtemperature , leadingtoaveragevaluesof 2.6 ^ { +0.5 } _ { -0.4 } \times 10 ^ { 8 } cm ^ { -3 } and \log ( T / { K } ) = 5.95 \pm 0.02 .Nosignificanttrendwiththeriseinsolaractivityduring1996–98isfoundforanyofthederivedquantities , implyingthatquietSunregionsshowlittledependenceonthesolarcycle .
